Diphtheria, Polio & Tetanus
DPT is a combination vaccine that can prevent Diphtheria, Polio, and Tetanus. Diphtheria is an illness that can result in long-term heart, lung, and neurological problems; Polio is a neurological disease that can infect a person’s spinal cord, leading to paralysis, and Tetanus enters the body through cuts or wounds and causes a painful stiffening of the muscles. These diseases are potentially life-threatening and disabling, also preventable; therefore, immunization is recommended.
Dosage & Instructions
DPT vaccines are routinely administered as a series of 5 vaccines during childhood. Provided that immunizations are up to date, a single booster is sufficient every 10 years or prior to travel.
Certificate
An immunization record is highly suggested for proper dosing.
Protection
Most people experience long-term protection with completion of the course but should receive a booster every 10 years to maintain tetanus immunization.
Recommended For
Routine immunization: travel vaccination is also recommended for visits to high-risk regions.
