The disease is transmitted by consuming contaminated food and water and also from person to person.

The vaccine for Typhoid is administered as a single dose injection and should be administered at least 2 weeks prior to travel.

Immunization records are not mandatory, but useful.
Protection
The vaccine generally provides some form of protection, and the efficacy diminishes over time. A booster every 2 years is recommended for repeated exposure.
Typhoid vaccination offers short-term protection to people being exposed to the bacteria which can cause gastrointestinal problems, and fever, and can be potentially life-threatening.

Travel vaccination; Not recommended for routine administration unless living in an endemic area.
